That first video was the almost prophetic Video Killed The Radio Star, from a disbanded British duo, The Buggles.
Consistent with MTV's current level of originality, the 1 millionth video broadcast a scant eighteen years later was also Video Killed The Radio Star.
Ironically, if one were to tune into MTV today, it could well take 18 commercial breaks before a complete video was aired.
