Tex Ritter doesn't care whether or not you smoke, and he's not even so sure that smoking is bad for you, he's smoked 'em all his life and he ain't dead yet (of course, this was at the time he recorded the song, Tex went on up to Hill-Billy Heaven in 1974), but he does know that smokers choose the most inopportune times to light up.
Tex, who first took to the entertainment world as a Broadway stage actor, is perhaps best known for the title track to the Academy Award winning western film "High Noon" starring Gary Cooper and Grace Kelly, his appearance in 85 films including Song of the Gringo, or for being the father of John Ritter, a.k.a. Jack Tripper of TV's "Three's Company."
