I'm Just Looking For One...
In the Norse pantheon Thor defends the world from natural and super-natural disasters. His only weapon is his Divine Hammer "Mjolnir," its use witnessed on Earth as thunder and lightning.

Mjolnir was given six enchantments by Odin, the supreme deity of the Scandinavians, including the ability to summon the elements of storm (wind, rain, thunder, and lightning), open interdimensional portals, and return to the exact spot from which it has been thrown after striking its target. Additionally, Thor, by swinging the hammer and maintaining his hold on the handle, can magically propel himself through the air in the semblance of flight.

Mjolnir was once stolen by the giant Thrym. In order to get it back, Thor had to dress up like Freyja, the Queen of the Valkyries, and fool Thrym into thinking Freyja was willing to marry him.

The days of the week Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are rooted in the Norse mythology for the trio of Odin, Thor and Freyja, respectively.

I Toll The Final Bell
According to the Koran, the archangel of death, called Azrael, has four thousand wings and seventy thousand feet as well as eyes and tongues equal to the number of people inhabiting the world.
This song is available on:

The phrase "Wings of Azrael" is in reference to the approach of death. I suppose that the cacophony of 4,000 beating wings would be hard to miss.

When Azrael blinks one of his eyes, it signifies that another person has died.

Azreal, as the "Angel of Death," provides services identical to those of the Grim Reaper, forever writing in a large book a person's name at birth and forever erasing their name at death.

Kill The Wabbit!!!
The Valkyrie, from the Old Norse "Valkyrja" literally means "chooser of the slain" and is also related to Celtic warrior-goddess, the "Morrigan." Both are represented in the form of the raven.

Over time, the Valkyries were depicted as blonde, blue-eyed and fair skinned women wearing scarlet corslets and carrying shields and spears who welcome deceased heros to the afterlife.

The Valkyries, who number between 3 and 8, as demigoddesses of death, are sometimes also known as swan maidens for their additional ability to assume the form of a swan.

It is said that you will die in battle if see a Valkyrie beforehand.

"Apocalypse Now" (1979), directed by Francis Ford Coppola, featured The Ride Of The Valkyries as musical accompaniment to thundering helicopters approaching a Vietnamese village.

The Ride Of The Valkyries was also used in the Warner Brothers cartoon, directed by Chuck Jones, "What's Opera, Doc?" starring Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd.

In His House At R'lyeh Dead Cthulhu Waits Dreaming
The author H.P. Lovecraft created his own religion around which to plot his stories. "The Call Of Chtulhu" was a part of his "Chtulhu Mythos" which centered around malignant, supreme beings.

These "Great Old Ones" lived before there were any men and came to the world from out of the sky are vaguely reminiscient of the Nephilim or the Elohim.

Nephilum is the Hebrew word for "giants" and literally means "fallen-down-ones" as it is said that these tall, celestial beings fell from the sky. The Nephilim then bred with humans and their descendants are often mentioned in the early books of the Old Testament. Eventually they were all killed off.

The Elohim are what the Sumerians called the Anunnaki. In Hebrew, Elohim means "God" or "those who from heaven to earth came." According to Zecharia Sitchin, the Anunnaki are from the planet Nibiru which is in our solar system and whose eliptical orbit brings it near the Earth once every 3600 years. The last time Nibiru was close enough to the Earth to be visible was at the time of Jesus' birth and is suspected as being the "Christmas Star." The Elohim are usually considered to be the creators of the human race.

According to Lovecraft, Chtulhu's dead body now lies under the sea, in the city of R'lyeh waiting for the stars to be ready for his return. When the time comes, he will call and the cult which worships the "Great Old Ones" will be there to liberate him.

Metallica changed the spelling of Chtulhu to "Ktulu" to avoid copyright infringement.

You're Warned Of The Day
Since ancient times the idea of an Angel Of Death has evolved from an angel that delivers the wrath of God to that of an unseen, supernatural force capable of decimating armies, to a cloaked skeleton carrying an hourglass and a scythe.

It was in the 15th century that the Angel Of Death took on the persona of the Grim Reaper.

During World War II, the Angel Of Death took on a human form as Dr. Josef Mengele.

At the largest Nazi concentration and extermination camp in Auschwitz, Poland, Mengele swayed the fate of millions.

Upon arrival, 10 to 30 percent of the able-bodied Jewish prisoners were sent to a forced labor camp. The remaining 70 to 90 percent, the old, the weak, children and their mothers, were immediately condemned to die.

After the war, Mengele escaped to Brazil where he died in a drowning accident in 1979.
