1972 was the year of Apollo 17, the last of the Apollo missions and the last time a man, Commander Gene Cernan, walked on the moon.

In 1972, President Richard Nixon made an unprecedented eight-day visit to Communist China and met with Mao Zedong. Months later, the Watergate scandal would begin as five men were arrested for attempting to bug the Democratic National Committee.

With So This Is Christmas (War Is Over), Lennon, the eternal peacenik, was trying again to sing pacifism into humanity.

Sure Did Treat Me Nice
What better to wash away the blues than receiving a great gift for Christmas?
This song is available on:

When he was in his twenties, Riley B. King of Indianola, Mississippi, hitchhiked to Memphis, Tennessee and began playing in clubs on Beale Street where he received the nickname "Beale Street Blues Boy."

Over time the moniker "B.B. King" evolved as did his playing, one of the most identifiable guitar styles, which has earned him the title "King of the Blues."

King was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in 1984.

At age 76, B.B. King still writes, plays, records and sings in addition to owning a series of B.B. King's Blues Clubs on Beale Street in Memphis, on Univeral CityWalk in Los Angeles, in Times Square in New York City, and at Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut.

Where Is Santa And His Sleigh?
The winter holidays are supposed to be a time of joy, but all that happiness can come at a price, and I'm not talking about the "Benjamins."
This song is available on:

Holiday shopping, while enjoyed by a freakish few, can be a nightmare as parent's duke it out for the latest toys. They know if they can't get Johnny a "Chicken Dance Elmo" that Christmas will be ruined.

Success or failure of the holiday shopping missions can also have an affect on our relationships.

The Ramones simply ask that we set aside our differences for one day and remember what the true spirit of Christmas is all about.

The Boys Of The NYPD Choir Were Singing Galway Bay
The lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center traditionally signals the start of the Christmas season in New York City and across the nation.
This song is available on:

The Pogues' Fairytale Of New York reminds us just how much we can miss our loved ones during the holiday season.

Galway Bay is a 30 mile long inlet of the Atlantic Ocean in the West Republic of Ireland.

The traditional version of Galway Bay, as mentioned in the chorus, is a song of yearning for an Irish home.

However, another version of Galway Bay exists which is perhaps more appropriately matched with the storyline in Fairytale Of New York.

Give All The Toys To The Little Rich Boys
You're on your best behaviour all year. You make out your Christmas wish list, seal it in an envelope and send it off to the North Pole. You sit in the lap of a fat man in a red suit who breathes hints of bourbon down on you through a polyester beard.
This song is available on:

All this and you don't even get what you really wanted in the first place.

Money.
