So began a long musical career for Bond in which he has been dubbed as the man who influenced the hyphenated title of "singer-songwriter."
For most of his career Bond was Gene Autry's sidekick and played acoustic lead guitar on all of Autry's recordings.
It was Autry who asked Bond to record Hot Rod Lincoln for the record label Autry had recently purchased.
Bond, who died in 1978, was inducted into the Country Music Hall Of Fame in 1999.
